Annie and I are the proud new mothers to a six week old baby Howler Monkey named Maya. Maya is the newest addition to the dog, birds, geckos and other critters scurring around our home.
Last week we got a female howler monkey in who had been slingshotted out of a tree by poachers. We tried as best we could to save her, but she didn't make it. Two days later Maya was brought to us. The poachers were trying to sell her to us, but our boss gave them the option of going to jail or getting as far out of town as possible. Needless to say, they left town.
Now Maya is our new baby and she will be brought up as a normal baby howler. We will release her into the wild when she is ready, just like Tar Baby.
She's not a very good help in the kitchen...
